201 Windshield Modification

I consider the 201 windshield mod a must for any vintage Mooney out there that still has the 2 piece windshields.  I believe it gives better visibility and also gives the aircraft a modest speed increase.  I decided to go with the kit from Lake Aero Styling and Repair (LASAR) in California because SWTA was out of stock and did not have an estimated delivery date for the windshield.  The kit was installed by my A&P mechanic in San Antonio, Texas before the aircraft was delivered to me in December 2009.  It took him roughly 10 days to complete the installation from start to finish.  I wish I could have been present to take more photos and help out.

I also had the LASAR Lower Cowl Enclosure mod added to reduce the "guppy" mouth and allow for better airflow into the engine compartment for cooling.  This mod was done mostly for aesthetics versus an actual speed gain.

Finished windshield with the protective cover removed.  Perfect!

Good shot of the LASAR cowl enclosure installed.  It's the white fiberglass piece below the prop.  Highly recommend this modification if you don't have it on your M20A-G already.
